The geometry of the prism table springs from the inherent stability of a tripod.  We started this project by thinking about a tripod’s three-legged form and its association to familiar, functional objects like camera and surveying equipment, but challenged it by making the legs out of transparent low-iron glass. Each leg tapers down to a small surface area at the foot where it meets the floor, and at the top edge, the legs widen to support the triangular form of the marble table surface. In this piece, the hardware connections are a focal point, highlighting the places where the glass legs support the marble top.
